Making Google Earth Place Marks using the HTML editor NVU

Getting NVU ready to use:

(Pictured above)
You must make sure that NVU is not using CSS for its page formatting. Cascading Style Sheets or CSS is a way to format a complete website or many pages in a website by having the pages reference a single file for its formatting. The HTML used by Google Place Marks doesn’t use CSS. Disable CSS in NVU by “Click” on the menu “Tools, Preferences”.

(Pictured Below)
Then make sure the line “Use CSS Styles instead of HTML elements and attributes” is unchecked. Then Click “OK”.

Using the Menu “Format, Page Color and Background” as above.
Choose the colors of your page and font as show below.

You can also insert images by using the menu “Insert, Images” then copying the image URL into the “Image Location” form. You cannot use a file on your computer. It must be a reference to an image that is already on the internet. (See below)

Below is an example of a page with formatted colors and an image inserted.

When you are done formatting and putting in images, copy the html from the “Source” tab at the bottom of NVU. You should only copy the information between the Body Tags.
<body alink="#ffff33" bgcolor="#440044" link="#ffff33"
text="#ffff33" vlink="#ffff33">
<div align="center"><big><big><big><big><b>HelloWorld<br>
<img src=
height="200" width="190"></b></big></big></big></big></div>

Look at the picture below to see how you can Copy and then paste the information from NVU into the Place Mark in Google Earth. All the formatting, text and images will be placed in the Place Mark just as it was in NVU.
